ABOUT CORINNE
Soprano, Music Mentor and Tutor.
From Usk, South Wales and educated at Hereford Cathedral School, Corinne first started singing professionally as a Choral Scholar with BBC National Chorus of Wales and as a soloist for Choral Societies in Bristol and Herefordshire. Her professional vocal training started at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama under the tutelage Buddug Verona James. It was during this time in Cardiff that sang many roles from the Baroque repertoire including "Iole" from Handel's "Hercules" touring multiple venues around South Wales and touring up North to the Swaldale Festival. She also sang the title role of "Galatea" in Handel's "Acis and Galatea" at the "Adelina Patti Theatre" in Craig-y-Nos. Corinne continued her operatic training at the Royal Academy of Music in London and since graduating has continued to be in demand as a soloist under the tutelage of Graeme Danby. Corinne has sung roles including Zerlina (Don Giovanni), Adele (Die Fledermaus) Romilda (Xerxes, Handel) Contessa (Le Nozze di Figaro) and has sung Erste Dame (Die Zauberflöte) in Weimar, Germany and Manon Lascaut (Puccini) and Alice Ford (Falstaff) scenes in Puglia, Italy.
Recent oratorio works include Mozart's Requiem, Bach's Cantata 147, Haydn's Creation, Handel Messiah, Rutter's Magnificat, Vaughan Williams' Serenade to Music, Mendelssohn's Elijah and Haydn's Nelson Mass. Corinne won "Voice of Godalming Festival 2018" after winning trophies across the board for classical singing. Corinne regularly sings and teaches for community events and holds community music in high esteem. She is currently employed as the soprano choral scholar at St Mary Magdalene in Richmond upon Thames, champions and sings in the South West London Military Wives Choir (when she can) and sings regularly for care homes, weddings, birthdays and engaged anywhere where she feels her voice would bring joy or create an event.
Corinne has been teaching music since 2004, starting in the Junior RWCMD department. She has since held teaching posts across Southend-on-Sea, South West London and Surrey. She has had multiple student successes in grades 1 to 5 theory, Singing (Beginner to Advanced) and in brass tuition (Beginner to Intermediate). Many of her younger musicians have achieved choral and music scholarships to senior schools (LEH, Hampton Court Chapel Royal Choir, St Catherines Girls School, Downe House) along with attaining distinction grades in both Trinity and ABRSM grades. Corinne continues to teach from her home.
